Our Roots

Myron Cohen, founder of Neptune Uniforms, became an entrepreneur over fifty years ago. Getting his start as a salesman for the Senac Company, he found his niche creating personal relationships with customers and suppliers alike.
Myron started Neptune Home Furnishings in 1959 in a small store front in Haverhill, eventually settling at 360 Washington Street and incorporated in 1963. What started door-to-door turned into a small department store that delivered, regarded as “The Store at Your Door.”

Uniforms Coming Into Focus

By 1970, Myron began dabbling in city worker and police uniforms by request, creating a uniform department scaling back the workforce to accommodate this new focus.
Starting at 4:00 AM on Sunday mornings and ending at 8:00PM, he’d set up “shop” in Boston Police Department areas, A, D and B2. The latter he dubbed his “headquarters.” He rarely missed a Sunday for thirteen years, gaining the nickname “Super Jew” by his Boston friends and clients.

Neptune of Today

In the eighties, Myron built a warehouse for inventory, offices, and sewing rooms, combining sales, personalized service and customizations that no one else could offer.
He took great pride in “Creating Visions of Honor,” as he liked to say.
On July 1st 2012, Myron C. Cohen passed away at the age of 80. He wove his life into the lives and hearts of the people he met and outfitted all over the US and cherished the countless friendships with those he met along the way.
There was no greater sense of pride for Myron than seeing his handiwork on an officer, and on honor guards in particular. So many went from cadet to chief, clothed under his guidance.
Whether he laughed with you or yelled at you, it was done with love. He is sadly missed.
